The Red Hook Police Department strives to provide professional law enforcement services to all persons within our community.  We operate under the principle that the actions or inactions of all employees either directly or indirectly affect the quality of police services provided to the community, and the public’s perception of our efforts. Throughout the course of a day, opportunities for quality interaction between the public and members of this agency occur.  Employees are expected to interact with the public in a professional, respectful, and productive manner.   

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Red Hook Police Department is to maintain social order and provide professional law enforcement services to residents, within prescribed ethical, budgetary, and constitutional constraints.  This agency strives to enforce the law and maintain order in a fair and impartial manner, recognizing the need for justice, and consistent appearance of justice.  All employees of the Red Hook Police Department recognize that no law enforcement agency can operate at its maximum potential without supportive input from the public it serves.  This agency actively solicits and encourages the cooperation of all community members to reduce and limit the opportunities for crime and to assist in bringing to justice those that break the law.

IN AN EMERGENCY DIAL 911. The Village of Red Hook Police Department is dispatched through the New York State Police.  RHPD’s dispatch number is: (845) 758-0060.

Police Station: 

The Red Hook Police Department Station is located at Village Hall, 7467 S Broadway, Red Hook, NY 12571. 

Station Hours & Public Access: 

The Red Hook Police Department patrols 7 days a week in the Village of Red Hook.  If a resident needs to speak with an officer or a supervisor directly they can come to Village Hall and press the outside intercom.  An officer will either let them in or meet them on the outside of the building.  

Responsibilities & Duties: 

Officers are tasked with maintaining order; responding to emergencies, rendering aid to the injured, protecting people and property, enforcing criminal laws, vehicle and traffic laws and practicing community policing principles. Officers also collect information for incidents and accidents and initiate investigations. 

Contracts:

Village of Red Hook: The Village of Red Hook Police Department patrols the Village of Red Hook 7 days a week.  

Town of Red Hook Contract: RHPD are contracted to provide police patrols for the residents of the Town of Red Hook. 

Red Hook Central School District: RHSCD has a contract with RHPD to provide a School Resource Officer (SRO), as well as Police support for various school events.
