Sidewalk snow removal policy:
It’s property owners’ responsibility to keep sidewalks clear of ice and snow during the winter season. If snow is not removed within 24 hours of the end of the storm, the Village Highway Department will remove snow at a cost of $2.00 per linear foot charged to the property owner. Sidewalk maintenance:
Sidewalk maintenance is the responsibility of the property owner, hazards and obstructions, such as excessive weeds or debris should be removed in order to keep a safe and accessible public right-of-way.

Annual Street Sweeping
Annual street cleaning takes place in early May. Please sweep sidewalk/lawn edge sand into the street. Please do not push sand into piles, the street sweeper is not designed for mounds of materials.
Report a pothole or public hazard:

On NY State Highways (NY-199 & U.S. 9) https://www.dot.ny.gov/programs/pothole-rpt File a claim NY State for damage to your vehicle from a pothole during May 2 - November 14. New York State Department of Transportation will not reimburse drivers who experience a close encounter with a pothole during so-called “pothole season.” That runs from November 15 to May 1, when cold weather makes potholes far more likely. Even if your pothole interaction occurred out of season, New York state limits the amount of damage payable to just $5,000.

Seasonal Parking Rules:
There is NO PARKING on any Village street between November 1st thru March 31st between the hours of 11pm and 6 am, and from 2 am - 6 am on Rt. 9 and 199 in the business district. This allows for proper and safe snow removal activity by the highway department. The Red Hook Police Department will strictly enforce this law and Violators WILL BE TOWED at the owner's expense. https://ecode360.com/15547536
Property owners are reminded that removable items in the Villages right-of-way (basketball hoops, planter pots, etc.) must be removed for safe snow removal during snow season. The Village is not responsible for damage to any items left on the shoulder of the roadway.
